Vulnerability analysis is an assessment to determine whether potential vulnerabilities identified, during the evaluation of the development and anticipated operation of the product or by other methods could allow attackers to violate the security functions.

Vulnerability analysis deals with the threats that an attacker will be able to discover flaws that will allow unauthorized access to data and functionality, allow the ability to interfere with or alter the product security functions, or interfere with the authorized capabilities of other users.
